Rubber compounds formulated in different colours can be a valuable way of distinguishing similar looking parts required for different applications. This may be a vital safety feature or a simple quick check when verifying parts for assembly.

Ultraclean colour compounding

SPC colour compounds are manufactured in a dedicated colour facility. Our colour compounding factory in Wales operates an ultraclean environment. No black rubber is manufactured at this site, which means it is free from carbon black and other potential contaminants that could affect the quality of the colour.

Our dedicated colour facility is committed to high levels of cleanliness, where a strict cleaning regime, clean warehousing practices and attention to detail at every stage of the process is paramount.

R&D and testing of colour compounds

Our colour compounding plant operates with its own on-site technical development laboratory with both analytical and mechanical testing machines. This allows us to conduct continuous testing through every production run, ensuring consistency of quality and compound performance at every stage.

In addition to being an integral part of our quality assurance processes, our testing lab allows us to develop custom compounds, creating unique recipes for individual applications and operational demands.

Meeting demand for coloured rubber

We work closely with our customers to meet their needs. With both 140 litre and 35 litre mixing capacity at our colour plant, we are able to deliver cost-effective production level trials of new grades, as well as the on-going supply of compounds against technically demanding standards such as for aerospace, food grade and pharmaceutical needs.

In addition, we have the capacity to partner with our sister plants to offer a wider range of finishes, including 1600mm calendered rubber sheeting.
