What is REACH?

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It is an EU regulation that came into force on 1 June 2007. The key points relating to REACH:

  • It applies to all chemicals including household cleaning products, clothes, furniture and those used in industry by all EU companies, including SPC
  • It requires EU companies to demonstrate to the ECHA how a substance can be safely used, and to communicate that to others
  • It promotes the substitution of hazardous substances with less dangerous ones

After Brexit the UK enacted its own REACH legislation (UK REACH), administered by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive). The SPC Rubber Group Is fully compliant with both sets of legislation and supports our customers to do the same.
